Okay, January was stellar! I'll report soon on how great it's been. Right now, I want to address living slim. We're trying to be lean in several ways-one is financially as you know. We're seeing the fruit of that hard work-we paid our taxes (for 3 lots in town, 2 with structures, and our 15 acres in the next county) without borrowing! Whoo hoo! We often borrowed from a family member until our income tax refund would come in--why don't they do refunds before property taxes, it would save us poor people SO much grief! Anyway, while shopping for groceries each week, I have to ask myself if I REALLY need what I'm putting in my cart. We saved a lot in January and I've been reminded that we don't need near as much as we think we do.
However, there's on thing I can hardly live without a minute longer. Our right click button on our mouse bit the dust about a week ago. I can't cut and paste! How much I've taken the poor right button for granted all these years. It's kind of a third wheel, ya know. It gets the least amount of attention. I mean, the roller ball is very important, as is the little dial thingy on the top of the mouse. We couldn't live without the left button, I'm sure...but I won't take the right button, then underdog, for granted anymore.
I just wish I would have remembered the stupid underdog died last night when I was at Wal-Mart. I totally forgot to pick up a new mouse. Ughhh.

Hey, L! Is that you? It worked!
Hey Wendy,
Yes, it is me. I am so glad to hear that you all are feeling less of a strain on the finances. It feels good, doesn't it?
Way to go and keep up the hard work, it is worth it!
L
Ctrl+C to copy & Ctrl+v to paste!
Jen, I tried that, but when I did ctrl C it didn't seem to indicate I'd accomplished anything. I didn't know what the shortcut for paste was, so I couldn't finish the experiement :) I'll try it again!
I saw I missed your call, sorry my phone was in the car while we watched my Pats get beat :(
I was just fixing to leave you a comment about ctrl+c and ctrl+v, but I see someone beat me to it. I've gotten to where that is what I use. I don't use the right mouse button hardly at all anymore. Good luck on saving!! I agree with you about getting our tax refund first. We have the same problem every year. FYI, when you guys build your house on your land, watch out for the evil tax man. OUCH!!!
Yes, I'm kinda worried about that. You know, our land is not in this county-it's in the one Shane works in :( That's really bad! We'll be building a mud hut, lol.
Sorry, I am on Ashlyn's google account. So I look like Ashlyn. LOL!
Why not just talk to a CPA before hand? Then you will know what to expect when you go to build?
L
Well, L, two reasons-1. I don't want to know before hand. If I know, we'll have to sell the land and buy in our own county, where taxes are lower, lol. It's quite bad! 2. We could figure it ourselves, it's property/school taxes, so a CPA isn't needed, it's a percentage of the estimated value. Of course both of those variables can change-the value has almost doubled since we bought it and the taxes can change...we'll need to be careful and not build too big (hard to do with 4 growing kids!). We will also do some Ag exemptions, but we can't realistically do that until we have a well. Okay, long enough answer? I'll be emailing you later today, hope you're doing extra well today!
